Museum Embankment Festival

Cultural delights by the river

On the last weekend in August, Frankfurt am Main comes alive with its unique Museumsufer. The Museum Embankment Festival is one of Europe’s largest cultural festivals and delights visitors with a diverse programme.

The museums keep their doors open until late in the evening, offering special events and exhibitions. Along both banks of the Main, visitors can look forward to a varied programme of live performances: regional artists, international live acts, DJs, bands and promising newcomers create a lively atmosphere, a club-like vibe and top-class entertainment.

Numerous stalls showcase high-quality arts and crafts as well as culinary specialities from all over the world. A particular highlight is the dragon boat races – the second oldest of their kind in Germany – during which the River Main itself becomes a competition arena. Other programme highlights, such as the Antiquarian Book Mile, the Art Meadow, the Organ and Choir Mile, and “Klang im Kloster”, invite visitors to explore and linger.

The event culminates in spectacular fashion with an impressive musical fireworks display (30.08.2026, 10:00 pm), which bathes the skyline in a sparkling sea of colour with thousands of lights.
