Every year, the Museum Embankment Festival brings culture, music and entertainment to the banks of the Main, transforming Frankfurt’s Museumsufer into a special meeting place. From 28.08. to 30.08.2026, visitors on both sides of the Main will celebrate Frankfurt’s museum scene with a diverse programme of art, culture, music, stage productions and numerous activities.

The museums will be presenting special exhibitions and events, whilst stages, food and drink stalls and numerous other programme highlights along the banks of the Main will create a unique festive atmosphere. As is tradition, the spectacular finale will be a grand musical fireworks display over the Main.

Welcome to Museumsuferfest 2026,

Museumsuferfest has been a vibrant summer highlight in our city for many years. Frankfurt’s Museumsuferfest offers a unique blend of culture, art and joie de vivre. As one of Europe’s largest art and culture festivals, it attracts around one million visitors to the banks of the Main every year.

This year, we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of “Batschkapp” with a stage on the Main. Thanks to the legendary music club, Frankfurt is recognized as a central venue for major names in the alternative and independent rock scene. Since its founding in 1976, “Batschkapp” has developed from a meeting place for the alternative counterculture into a cultural institution with international appeal. It is a stage, open space, experimental field and home all at once. Cultural movements emerged here; music was not only played here, but lived. We are celebrating this spirit at this year’s Museumsuferfest. I warmly invite you to discover the diverse offerings, our museums, stages and projects - exhibitions and events.

On the occasion of Batschkapp’s 50th anniversary, the Museumsuferfest honors one of Germany’s most influential concert venues. Since 1976, the music club has stood for live music, diversity and cultural encounters in Frankfurt. Generations of music fans have experienced concerts here, discovered new artists and shared special moments.

Emerging from the alternative scene in Eschersheim, Batschkapp developed into an institution known far beyond Frankfurt. Whether rock, punk, metal, hip-hop, indie, pop or electronic music – the club provided a stage for international stars, national acts and up-and-coming talents.

Even after its move to Seckbach in 2013, Batschkapp continues to shape Frankfurt’s cultural landscape. The Museumsuferfest congratulates it on its anniversary and, together with Batschkapp, looks back on 50 years of music history.

The Museumsuferfest celebrates Frankfurt’s water kiosks. For generations, 165 years to be precise, water kiosks have been an unmistakable part of Frankfurt’s cityscape. They are far more than points of sale: they are meeting places, places of exchange, and important fixtures of everyday life in Frankfurt. Whether for a quick purchase, a chat with the neighbors, or as a cultural meeting point – the water kiosks are a symbol of lived neighborhood spirit and continue to shape the identity of the Main metropolis to this day. Their operators and guests are just as diverse as the range of goods and architectural design.

The Adler-Bühne is taking up this special Frankfurt tradition in a variety of ways at this year’s Museumsuferfest and bringing water kiosk culture to life with a varied program for all age groups. With craft activities for children, a photo spot, and a prize drawing, the water kiosk itself becomes the lively centerpiece of the program. A construction fence exhibition and a panel discussion provide exciting insights into the history and significance of the water kiosks.

The next opportunity to celebrate water kiosk culture will not be long in coming: on 12.09.2026, it is Wasserhäusjetag in Frankfurt!
