Dance performance by the group Pasión Afro Perú

Pasión Afro Perú is a dance group from Frankfurt am Main that was founded in 2018 under the direction of Rosario Escobal. Through their dances, they bring Peru’s cultural diversity to the stage and, in particular, showcase the Afro-Peruvian heritage. Their repertoire includes traditional dances from the Peruvian coast such as Festejo, Landó, Toro Mata, Zamacueca, Alcatraz and El Afro. These forms of expression trace their roots to the Afro-Peruvian community, which has shaped the culture of the coastal region for centuries. The group brings together children and adults and embodies a vibrant interplay of tradition and community. The dances are accompanied by traditional instruments such as the cajón, the quijada de burro, and the cajita criolla, which shape the characteristic rhythm of this culture.
