Exhibition "Greenland - Nor for Sale - Kalaallit Nunaat Forever"

This exhibition is a journey into a country surrounded by the Arctic Ocean, six times the size of Germany, and which has unwillingly become the focus of the major powers in recent years. Its strategic location at the crossroads of Canada, the U.S., Russia, and Europe fuels the desire for dominance over sea lanes and access to its abundant natural resources. The country reflects all the geopolitical challenges that are currently affecting people in numerous regions of the world in similar ways. The consequences of global warming, the interests of large transnational corporations, and their lack of solidarity—all to the detriment of local economies. Growing tensions between the state and its citizens, as well as identity-based conflicts within societies, are on the rise. What do we know about the people of Greenland, about nature, and about the interconnections between economy, environment, and culture? What about the history of colonial violence? Which political forces lay claim to this land that yearns for independence?

The Frankfurter Kunstverein is an interdisciplinary exhibition space for contemporary art and culture. It was founded in 1829 by Frankfurt citizens as an independent art space, free from any state-imposed or elitist conception of art.
