TOWER MMK – MUSEUM MMK FÜR MODERNE KUNST
You’ll find this branch of the Museum of Modern Art right next to the Frankfurt Opera House, right along the green ramparts—in the 170-meter-tall, stylishly mirrored TaunusTurm. Since 2014, the Tower MMK has been exhibiting contemporary art that often critically addresses current issues: a great complement to the renowned main building! The Tower MMK has approximately 2,000 square meters of flexible exhibition space; exhibitions typically change twice a year. The exhibitions are curated from the MMK’s collection, but the work of individual artists is also specifically featured. Often, these artists are honored here for the first time in Germany—or even for the first time ever—with a comprehensive retrospective—such as the American-Mexican artist Elizabeth Catlett, the Belgian draftsman Stéphane Mandelbaum, or the Nuremberg-born and later stateless Gustav Metzger, who was half performance artist, half political agitator.
